APPLICATION PROCEDURE:You need to apply at email@example.com I had applied for the internship two months prior to the date of internship. Subsequently, I got a confirmation within 10 days from the date of sending the application for internship.
MAIN TASKS:Initially, I was assigned tasks such as vetting documents, reading provisions of law related to the cases, checking case statuses, etc. Gradually, I also assisted him in drafting legal documents such as notices, complaints, affidavits, etc., researching on legal points relevant to the proceedings, making applications, etc. Apart from all this, I had the opportunity to witness the Court proceedings daily, and I was taken to different Courts where I was explained the functioning of Courts.
GOOD THINGS:The major benefit I had while interning under a lawyer practicing criminal litigation was that it gave me an exposure to the Courts and the criminal proceedings. Attending the courtproceedings, the cross-examination of witnesses, filing of fresh complaints, oral arguments, these things gave me a realistic approach towards the profession. Another advantage I had was that I could attend various client meetings which gave me clear overview of various cases and it also helped me in improving my communication skills. The overall work environment is very friendly.
BAD THINGS: The internship, per se did not have any have any bad things. However if your college has compulsory attendance criteria, then, you will have to manage both at the same time.
OVERALL EXPERIENCE:In the course of my internship, I learned various laws and their provisions, which I would otherwise not have known. Being in the initial years, when I had no legal knowledge yet, it was very fascinating to intern under a litigation lawyer as you get to attend the Court proceedings daily. The overall experience was amazing and worth enriching. Given a chance, I look forward to working with him again.
